Cold storage trades speed for cost. Files are stored on slower, cheaper media, so they take a few hours to prepare. The catalogue itself is always instant to search.
Can I stop someone deleting archived records?
Yes. A retention lock prevents changes and deletions to a set of files until the date you pick, even for administrators.
Can I move files back to my regular drive?
Absolutely. Request retrieval, and once the files are ready you can restore them to the original folder or download them.
