06 · For the worst Tuesday

When something goes wrong, go back in one click.

Accidents, ransomware and bad scripts all end the same way: a gap where your files used to be. Disaster Recovery keeps copies of your data in several regions and takes snapshots on a steady schedule, so you can rewind to a clean moment instead of rebuilding from memory.

What you get

Everything in Disaster Recovery.

Multi-region replicas

Your data is copied to three separate regions. If one location has a problem, the others still hold a complete, current copy.

Hourly snapshots

Point-in-time snapshots are taken every hour and kept for ninety days, so there is nearly always a clean moment to go back to.

One-click restore

Pick a snapshot, choose a folder or the whole account, and restore. Files return to their original places without overwriting newer work unless you ask.

Protected snapshots

Snapshots are write-protected, so an attacker or a runaway script that deletes your live files cannot also erase the history behind them.

Recovery drills

Rehearse a restore into a sandbox folder and confirm that the files open, so the first time you test your plan is not during an emergency.

Clear incident timeline

See a timeline of unusual deletions or mass changes, then jump straight to the snapshot taken just before it began.

How it works

Four steps, no ceremony.

  1. 1

    Choose what to protect

Select whole drives or specific workspaces. Protection starts with an initial full copy to your replica regions.

  2. 2

    Replication runs quietly

New and changed data is copied across regions continuously while hourly snapshots build a rewindable history.

  3. 3

    Spot the problem

The incident timeline highlights unusual bursts of deletions or edits so you can pinpoint when things went sideways.

  4. 4

    Restore with confidence

Preview the snapshot, pick the scope, and restore. Then run a recovery drill next quarter to keep the process fresh.

Good to know

Questions about Disaster Recovery.

How is this different from file history?

File history rewinds individual files. Disaster Recovery protects the whole account across regions and with write-protected snapshots, so you can recover from large-scale loss too.

Will a restore overwrite the work I did since the snapshot?

Not unless you choose that. By default restored items come back alongside your current files so you can compare and keep what you need.

How long does a full restore take?

It depends on how much data you are restoring. The restore screen shows an estimate before you confirm, and you can restore the most important folders first.
